Sofía Peypoch's debut documentary, earth altars, is a deeply personal exploration of trauma and memory. In this film, Peypoch returns to the site of her kidnapping, seeking to unearth traces of violence embedded in the collective memory. The documentary premiered at DOCLISBOA, where it garnered significant recognition, winning two prestigious awards: Best Film in the International Competition and Best Feature-Length Film. It has since been showcased at various international film festivals, including events in Madrid, the United States, Venezuela, Colombia. In Mexico, it was featured at FICUNAM as part of the AHORA MEXICO Competition, where it was awarded the Silver Puma Award for Best Mexican Film. script, direction + photography: Sofía Peypoch
