About the Event

Since the early 2000s, Archive of Modern Conflict (AMC) has been working to give a voice to its UK-based archive through the form of photobooks. A collection of vernacular photographs, ephemera, artefacts, and curiosities that find their way to the printed page, weaving a personal, social, or political story often situated in the space between reality and fantasy.

 

This spotlight section features AMC journals, narrative-driven photobooks, and artistic collaborations. Amc2 began with AMC Journals, each representing the archive’s diverse collections and its contemporary interests. The journals are often produced within a thematic framework, for instance, the AMC Issue 14: Me Nu displays a collection of Chinese food photographs in the form of a restaurant menu. Narrative-driven photobooks fall under a plethora of styles: elliptical storytelling, stream of consciousness, and social commentary, edited and curated by the AMC team (including Timothy Prus, Kalev Erikson, Ruben Lundgren) or by invited curators (Thomas…
